BBA Grants and Prizes

BBA TRAVEL GRANT

The British Burn Association (BBA) will consider applications for travel grants from BBA Members.  Applications for grants should have clearly defined aims and objectives, identifying an area of burn care which the applicant wishes to explore, and which has relevance in clinical practice.

Grants will not normally exceed £1,000.

MARGARET MILLER TRAVEL GRANT

This grant is designed to enable nurses to visit conferences overseas. The proposed travel must include a visit to a burn-related conference outside the UK and Ireland and a visit to a Burn Service.  The travel should have clearly defined aims and objectives which the applicant wishes to explore and which have relevance in clinical practice.

Grants will not normally exceed £1,000.

RESEARCH GRANT

The British Burn Association (BBA) will consider applications for research projects from BBA members either to allow small projects to be completed or to pump-prime projects for a maximum of one year.  Funds will be awarded for consumables, running costs and necessary items of equipment.  Application for personal computers will not normally be considered.  Support for technical staffing costs/salaries will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.

Grants will not normally exceed £1,000.

LAING ESSAY PRIZE

The Laing Essay Prize is open to all involved in burn care and is awarded annually for an Essay of no more than 5,000 words on a topic to decided by the Executive Committee each year.
