The BFIRST / BBA Burns Care online symposium aims to provide high quality online instructional burns education relevant to low and middle-income countries (LMICs)/ limited resource settings. The symposium series has been designed by an international steering committee. We hope the symposium will help to bring together the global community of burn care providers in LMIC by being easily accessible and freely available.

The emphasis of the first webinar series (Acute Care) will be to cover the scope of burns care provision in LMICs. This will be achieved in 3 main sections:

  1. Overview of acute burn care in LMIC, the challenges faced.
  2. The multidisciplinary team approach to burn care
  3. COVID-19 and implications for burn care in LMICs

We hope to gain insight into the challenges that burn injury can present and some approaches and solutions that have proved successful in these settings.

These webinars are aimed at all healthcare professionals from LMICs with an interest and involvement in the provision of burn care. This broad global audience will include established members of the burn multidisciplinary team (most likely based in urban areas), healthcare professionals with a more generalised practice (may be based in a rural locations) and trainees/residents with an interest in burn care.
