The Principles & Practice of Burns Care Unit will be commencing Thursday 17th January 2019 at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9WL.

In order to complete the clinical competencies for this unit it may be necessary for you to undertake a MINIMUM 3 week placement on a specific Burns Unit (not ICU). This can be undertaken either as a block placement or 1 week at a time, totalling 3 weeks, but not ad hoc days. This is a mandatory requirement for all non-burns unit based staff.
You have the option to undertake the unit as attendance only, whereby you attend all the teaching sessions but are not required to undertake the assessed academic components of the unit or the clinical placement. The cost for attendance only is £150 within the Northern Burn Care Operational Delivery Network or £300 for all other applicants. (Please note – you do not have to complete the Supporting Evidence for this option).
Please note for students who secure free places there will be a £150 admin fee if you fail to complete the unit.
If your Trust is not based within the Northern Burn Care Operational Delivery Network the course costs for undertaking academically will be ₤1,400 for the Principles and Practice of Burns Care Unit and ₤700 for the Elective Units. If you outside the NHS in private practice please contact the Burns Course Administrator for costs.
For Overseas students only
You would need to sort out your travel and accommodation arrangements and any visas you may require. Also in order to undertake the placement you would need to register with the NMC.
