Dan’s Fund For Burns Befriender Peer Support Service

Dan’s Fund For Burns (DFFB) is pleased to announce the launch of our adult burn survivor peer to peer support service in collaboration with Broomfield Hospital’s Psychological Therapies Service.

With the help of the team at Broomfield Hospital, a group of volunteer burn survivors have been trained to offer adult burn survivors, one-on-one peer support and guidance through their own shared experience, using Zoom, MS Teams and/or over the phone support.   A Befriender database has been set up which will enable us to closely match the befriender to a befriendee seeking support.

To access the service, adult burn survivors who are struggling at any stage of their recovery can be referred to Dan’s Fund For Burns by the burn services or get in touch directly.   A Befriendee information sheet, including an application/matching form would need to be completed by the burn survivor requesting support.  If you’d like a copy of the form, please get in touch.   Leaflets will be sent to all burn services in due course.

Dan’s Fund For Burns will administer the Befriender Service and will be available to support both the befrienders and befriendees throughout the process.   We are pleased to be able to offer this service in addition to our weekly moderated online burn support Live Chat and our once a month live chat followed by a zoom social.
